Batten disease is a rare genetic disorder that severely affects the nervous system and begins in childhood. Batten disease is the most common form of Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinoses or NCLs. Individuals with this disorder usually start showing between the ages of 5 to 10. Early symptoms of this condition include: seizures, problems with vision, stumbling, delayed learning, and behavioral changes. As time progresses affected individuals experience a progressive loss motor skills and vision.
